I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day

Angi had decided she wanted to attend the Delaware County Penn State branch campus (near Philadelphia) to be near Matt, the Christian young man with whom she had a relationship. We liked Matt a lot but I was struggling with all the ramifications of Angi’s choice of this particular campus. It was in an urban setting with no dorms or cafeteria, which meant Angi would have to live off campus, provide her own meals, and walk to classes. Would she be safe in this suburb of Philadelphia? Once again I wrestled with wanting to take control.
In July when we went to the Delaware County campus to finalize Angi’s plans for fall, we were told the room we had reserved for her had already been rented. Perhaps we wouldn’t be able to find another room in our price range within walking distance of the school I thought hopefully.
As we drove through the neighborhood to the first place on the list we’d been given, Angi said, “This looks really familiar… Look! There’s Matt’s house and there’s Ogden Court!” The house we were looking for was a stone’s throw from Matt’s house! My fears were calmed as I realized once again that God was bringing about His plans for Angi’s life. For 18 years, we had provided her with a nest, now it was time to give her wings.
Heavenly Father, forgive us when our fears blind us to what you are doing in our children’s lives. Show us how to let them fly. Amen.
