On Tuesday, August 14, I finished the draft of Sarah’s Legacy Shared I’ve been working on and prepared to begin the critique process. I was excited to reach this milestone! I reviewed the guidelines of the American Christian Fiction Writer’s Scribe’s Critique group: for every two manuscripts I critique for other writers, I can submit a manuscript of up to 2,500 words. On each manuscript I submit, ideally, I will receive three critiques from other writers within a week. I can do that twice a week.
On Wednesday, August 15, I critiqued four manuscripts from other writers. I have an internal editor that loves to critique and edit so this isn’t usually a hardship, but it does take time. My plan was that on Thursday, August 16, I would edit and prepare four chapters of Sarah’s Legacy Shared (two of my chapters equal less than 2,500 words) to submit to the Scribe’s Group.
However, as some of you know, the evening of Wednesday, August 15, I received a phone call from my nephew that my oldest sister was lying unresponsive in a hospital in Tennessee. Suddenly, nothing was more important than going to Tennessee to be with my nephews. Those of you who read my last blog know this wasn’t the only interruption (opportunity) I’ve had over the past month or two. Once again I was so thankful we were led to self-publish which means I’m not subject to anyone’s timetable but the Lord’s!
